Enable the hey! skill
Make sure the hey! skill is enabled within the Google Home app and that the connection has been verified using your account details.
Naming and grouping your devices
Remember to name your products something you will remember and that can be easily recognised by Google. Creating a group is a great way to control multiple devices at once, for example 'Hey Google, Turn on lounge lights' or 'Hey Google, Turn off bedroom lights.'
Create your favourite scenes & activate with a single voice command
Creating a tap to run programme within our app allows google to quickly activate your favourite scenes with a single voice command.
For example, creating a tap to run whereby the lounge lamps all set to warm white lighting, 50% brightness and naming this programme 'evening mode' would allow 'Hey Google, evening mode' to action this around your home without you having to lift a finger.
Step by step guide | How to pair your devices with Google Home
Download the Google Home App
First of all, you will need to download the Google Home app from the App store or the Google Play store if you are using an android smartphone. Once you have this downloaded, create an account and then simply open up the app and follow the below steps.
Setting up a device that works with Google
Next, you will need to click the '+' icon in the top left corner of the Google Home app homepage. Then select set up device.
Search for the hey! service and enable the connection between Google Home and your hey! account.
From here, you will need to select 'works with Google' to open up the skill library. Next, use the search bar to find our 'hey!' skill. Next, select this skill and wait for the authorization page to load.
Log into your hey! account and authorize the connection.
Within the hey! skill, start by selecting your country/region which in this case is United Kingdom. Next you will need to log into this page using the details from your hey app account (email address and password).
Please note, this is your app account log in and the details used to make a purchase on our website will not work.
Congratulations, your hey account is now linked. Now time to discover your devices...
Now your hey! account is linked to Google Home, its almost time to start controlling your devices with a single voice command!
The Google home app should now have discovered all your hey! smart devices and this is often a good time to allocate them to their relevant rooms around your home.
Putting your smart devices in the correct rooms
If you wish to do this now, simply click each device one by one, allocating them to the correct room within your house. This will help with further grouping and single room commands later.
